i've been going to the creative bookbinding class at LCC. this is one i completed last week. we were able to use whatever images we wanted so i took some of my letter press "mistakes". it's not something i would usually make, but it actually turned out alright.

i am slowly leaving faint tracings of drawings around the studio space as i move my drawings when i have finished the cutting etc. i'm not sure if they show up so well on the photo, but they are like little whispers of the work that was there...

i was playing with the cut out drawing i had done last week (pictured in the bottom image).i made some folds which had a page-like quality to them but i don't think this is evident in the photo.

i've been working with the typewriter numbers. it's a work in progress. i'm making lines with them. it's slow going but i'm happy with it at the moment...

i did another drawing (using the wiggly "number lines"), which i'm going to fold up and perhaps bind. but i liked the way the strips formed what were almost like pages as they curled up. so i took photos in case this could be something i use later.

cut out drawing

i finished the cut up drawing i mentioned in a previous post. pieces like this can only ever be temporary in that form, as moving it will change it, crease it etc.

i was playing around with one cut out drawing i made. i was wondering what would happen if i totally released it from the larger page. so i cut it out totally and played around. when mounted so that it "hangs" vertically the paper holds it shape nicely. it almost resembles really old maps when routes were drawn as vertical straight lines with drawings of points of interest along them. i am also interested with the marks left behind on the wall when the cutting is completed...

i'm experimenting with my drawings.i took the number lines that i had been working with earlier. and i traced around them. at the moment i just have the three to work with, but i've been working more with the letter press and so will be creating more soon. i initially wanted to trace round them to then do more cut out drawings. but i found the simple tracings quite striking in their simplicity. i did a few tracings and am working on a cut out right now (photos to follow)...
